About the Artist

Biography
Fine Art Realism
Ever since she was a child looking at the Rubens paintings in a huge family Bible, Phoebe has had a love of art. Born in East Tennessee, her exposure to fine art was limited until her parents took her to New York City and they visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There she was astonished by the sheer scope and possibility of what could be done with a brush on canvas.
Her life took many twists and turns, from marrying (too young) to living in places like Okinawa, Japan and Southern California, to Midwestern big cities, all removed from her Southern roots. She drew and painted all through her life, mostly as a hobby, but when the Pandemic hit, she took up oil painting and hasn't looked back.
She has a love for Realistic Still Life and Figurative Art and especially loves including flowers and natural elements in both. An avid gardener, her works often have flowers from her own gardens. Spring is often a flurry of planting and fertilizing and then waiting impatiently until blooms appear, bees and butterflies visit.
She is a graduate of the foundations program from Evolve Artists and is currently enrolled in New Master's Academy Four Year Program.
